NNPC/SNEPCo Scholarship Award 2025: Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

NNPC/SNEPCO Scholarship Award flagged off their annual scholarship programme in July 2025. They are popular oil-producing companies in Nigeria, known as SNEPCO and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company. In association with their co-venture and partner, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, they officially welcome applications from qualified undergraduate university students for the 2025 NNPC–SNEPCO Annual National University Scholarship Award Program.

The said scholarship award was established to promote academic excellence and enhance the young Nigerian students’ skills. The scholarship provides financial grants for the beneficiary from their second year to their final year.

The Benefits of the Scholarship Scheme 

The scholarship covers the full year, which means that upon successful completion, the student or applicant receives a sum of N250,000 to take care of the academic expenses.

Scholarship Requirements:

The scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate students currently studying in any Nigerian public university.

Applicants must be

1.Citizen of Nigeria

2.Already in their 2nd year of regular study in a Nigerian Public University recognized by the NUC

3.Maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 in a 5-point grading system or the equivalent in other grading systems

4.Applicant must not apply for any other scholarship within the oil and gas sector, both national and international

Female students are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualification Process

Applicants must:

•All the applications are expected to reach the scholarship board before the deadline through the scholarship portals.

•Those who meet the eligibility criteria will be selected to sit for a monitored computer-based test.

•The top 10 best-performing students will be selected from the 36 states and the capital territory for further verification before the scholarship offer.

•Those who present false results or documents will be disqualified.

•The successful candidates who satisfy the requirements above will be contacted for the scholarship.

•After the scholarship, it is mandated that the scholars should maintain a minimum of 3.5 CGPA per session to continue benefiting from the scholarship.

Documents Required

Student applicants should scan and upload the following documents as part of the application exercise.

•A recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant in JPEG format, not more than 200 kilobytes

•University or JAMB Admission Letter

•Result obtained from Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations

•West African Examination Council Results, A-level, such as OND, NCE Results, as required

Students who wish to apply for this scholarship must present a letter of identification from the state of origin.  In that letter, all information about the student’s origin will be disclosed, including the state and local government of origin.

4. Check your mail inbox to activate your account.

5. Click on the link that will be sent to you to return to the scholarship site.

6. Type in your login details to upload your data

7  Input your personal details, such as educational information, NIN number, and other required information. Remember to upload all the required documents.

8.  During the registration, try to make sure that the names you registered with tally with the ones in your documents. If there are any changes, you must upload an affidavit.

9.  Cross-check your documents after upload to prevent errors.

10.  Snap and upload the recommended passport photograph type, the one that has a white background.

11. Go through your application to confirm it is error-free

12. On your registration page, locate  “Active scholarship” and select the type of scholarship you want to apply for, and click Apply Now to submit your information. A notification message will be sent to you through the email that you registered with.

13  Confirm it by checking  “My Application” located in the My Account section of your profile.

14. Go back to scholastic, input your login details, download your profile, and take it to your Course Head of Department for him or her to sign it.

Scan the signed document and upload it for verification, which will be used later.       

15.  In a situation where your National Identification Number is not available, you go to the NIMC portal to get your National Identity Number  http://ninenrol.gov.ng to create an account and know more about the National Identity Number.

16. Always cross-check to be sure that you have provided all the required information.

17. Log in with your credentials, such as Email and password, to complete the registration.

18. When you’re done capturing your photograph.

19  There are up to  37 capture centres across Nigeria. You can visit any of them http://www.nimc.gov.ng/?q=nin-registration-centres to conclude the registration procedure and get your NIN number.

20.  Alternatively, the Registration can still be carried out at any of the NIMC offices.

21.  Revisit www.Scholastica.ng to update your pending application, which involves adding your National Identification Number to complete the application.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the scholarship be valid,Is it through the studies?

Scholarship is valid till the student graduates, but the only condition attached to it here is that the beneficiary should maintain a certain academic standard; likewise, some other conditions are stated in the scholarship award letter.

Is it necessary to include extracurricular activities, employment history, and additional information?                            

You can only include it if it is part of the information requested by the scholarship board

Can I apply if I attend another tertiary institution that is not the University?

For you to be eligible for the scholarship award programme, you must be an undergraduate student of a known Nigerian University, not a private university.

Do pre-degree or Pre-science students benefit from this scholarship award programme? 

The scholarship is for those who have been admitted to study a particular course in the University. 

Which University in Nigeria will I enroll in, for me to be eligible for the scholarship?   

You can attend any government-approved public  University in Nigeria.

Am I eligible to apply since I am planning to attend a vocational institution?   

NO

Does the scholarship award have an age limit?                          

No age group for now

Is it advisable to apply through an agent or NNPC-SNEPCO officials in my school or community?

No. For clarity sake, SNEPCO-NNPC has no affiliation with any third party or agent as regards the NNPC-SNEPCO scholarship scheme.

Student applicants are advised to follow the information as it was advertised, because everything needed is provided in the advert, ranging from registration to submission. Prospective applicants should note that the information is processed by the scholarship board, where the outcome will be communicated directly to the student applicants. Applicants should guard their application details properly, and are advised to log out from a public computer before shutting down the computer and deleting their details, since they have written them down.

I am a Nigerian Citizen residing in another country. Can I apply for the scholarship?       

Yes. You can apply since you’re a Nigerian and have been admitted as a regular student in any Nigerian public university.

Can I send my documents and applications through fax or mail?

No. The only accepted mode of submission is through the portal created by the scholarship board NNPC-SNEPCO; anything apart from that will not be accepted.

May I know those who are eligible for the NNPC-SNEPCO National?  

Currently, the scholarship scheme accepts only 2nd year students from Nigerian Universities.

There is no particular university to enroll in; just make sure you’re an undergraduate of a recognized public university in Nigeria.
